Travelling to Delta cities getting easier
By:Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2019-10-25 10:38

China’s railway construction continues striding forward, and travelling to Yangtze River Delta cities is getting more convenient, as three new railway lines are nearing completion.

The three new lines, including Xuzhou-Huaian-Yancheng, Lianyungang-Huaian-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang (Dongji to Huaian section), Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou (Shangqiu to Hefei section), will begin operation by the end of this year.

For the first time ever, Huaian and Suqian will have railway stops thanks to the opening of the Xuzhou-Huaian-Yancheng and Lianyungang-Huaian-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang railway lines. As such, by that time, all the cities in Jiangsu province will have entered into the “high-speed rail era”.

The Yangtze River Delta region enjoys a network of many high-speed railways. For the time being, the high-speed railway lines originating in Shanghai are the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, Shanghai-Nanjing intercity high-speed railway, and Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway. As the number of new lines in Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui rises year by year, the network is becoming ever more interconnected. Shanghai citizens can travel to almost each place in the Delta area in a shorter span of time.

Take for example the Hangzhou-Huangshan high-speed railway, which runs via Shanghai. Citizens have found that it is far more convenient to go to Zhejiang’s Thousand Island Lake and the Yellow Mountain in Anhui.
