Costco has limited the number of shoppers in its first China store in Minhang District, Shanghai.

On February 23, the US supermarket giant announced that the opening hours of its China store in the Shanghai suburb will be from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm for the sake of the COVID-19 prevention and control.

The number of shoppers will be limited to 2,000, and people have to wear a mask.

The American supermarket chain opened in Minhang on August 27, 2019. It rolled out a restriction on August 28 to limit the number of customers to 2,000 at a time after the store was swarmed during its grand opening one day prior. Now due to the coronavirus outbreak, the store once again has decided to limit shoppers.

It is also reported that the supermarket’s second store in China will be in Kangqiao, Pudong, taking up a land area of 47,000 square meters.
