IoT makes delivered food safer
By:Wu Qiong   |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2021-01-15 08:41

After a guideline was issued for epidemic prevention and control in the catering industry, the 3.0 version of the security seal for takeout food has finally been launched.

Utilizing IoT (Internet of Things) and mobile Internet technology, the new seal makes it possible that the delivered food is safer with less contamination.

Each seal has a unique number and a QR code. By scanning the code, people are able to track food safety with merchants and check the time and location of the sealing after their takeout food is ready from the merchant’s kitchen.

Additionally, to provide more convenience, especially at night, the electronic seal will beep and shine so that the food can be easily found by food delivery people.

The lifespan of the electronic seal is five years and the cost of each seal, which is recyclable, is only one fifth of that made of self-adhesive materials.

As the whole process is connected with the Internet, the electronic seal helps to define who the liability belongs to—the merchant, the food delivery person or the consumer—in case of any violation.

It is reported that around 3,000 seals will be first rolled out in Shanghai’s Lujiazui Business Circle. If applied successfully, they will be promoted in more areas and cities.
