KABUL, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Three Afghan civilians were wounded after a bomb attack hit a NATO military convoy in western side of Kabul on Sunday, authorities said.

The bomber was killed following the blast but the explosion did not cause casualties on the NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) personnel travelling in the multi-vehicle convoy, the RS forces confirmed.

"There are no Resolute Support casualties as result of the explosion. A team from Resolute Support is on the scene to recover the vehicle," they said on Twitter.

There is no impact to RS operations, they said.

"A foreign forces' military convoy came under attack by a suicide bomber driving a sedan in Afshar locality, Police District 5. The blast caused three civilians wounded," the Afghan Interior Ministry said in a statement earlier.

"The explosion came at around 10:50 a.m. local time along a road which leads to Qargha Lake, west of Kabul. The blast caused a plume of grey smoke to rise above the scene," witness Ahmad Farshad told Xinhua.

A military university and two Afghan security forces' military training centers are located near the site.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

The Taliban militants have been on the rampage since April when they launched a so-called annual rebel offensive in different places in Afghanistan, including the capital of Kabul, killing and injuring hundreds.

On Sept. 13, Taliban struck near a sport stadium in east of Kabul, killing four people and injuring five others.
