32 Palestinians injured in clashes with Israeli soldiers in West Bank, Gaza

GAZA/RAMALLAH, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- About 32 Palestinians were injured in cashes that broke out between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian demonstrators in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip on Friday, medics said.

The protests in the Palestinian territories have been going on every Friday since the declaration of United States President Donald Trump in December 6 that Jerusalem is the capital of the state of Israel.

The clashes broke out after Friday prayers in accordance to the calls of Palestinian powers and factions, including Islamic Hamas movement and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Fatah Party.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society in the West Bank said that 16 Palestinians were shot and injured during clashes with the Israeli soldiers in the cities of Jericho, Nablus and Ramallah.

In Gaza, Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the health ministry said that 16 Palestinians were shot and injured during clashes with Israeli soldiers close to the borderline area between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel.

Earlier Friday, hundreds of Palestinians demonstrated in Gaza City in support for Jerusalem, against Trump's policies towards the Palestinian cause and against the Israeli policies against the Palestinians in the Palestinian territories.

The demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and chanted slogans against Israel and U.S..

Ismail Radwan, a senior Hamas leader told the rally that the lands of Palestine and Jerusalem are for the Palestinians "and this is the promise of God."
