SARAJEVO, April 25 (Xinhua) -- The ninth Sarajevo Business Forum (SBF) opened here Wednesday featuring economic bonding of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the region as well as cooperation with European Union (EU) Member States.

"BiH is an impeccable point for linking people from the East and the West," said Bakir Izetbegovic, Chairman of BiH Presidency, while opening the forum, adding that BiH offers all opportunities for investment.

Izetbegovic highlighted BiH abundancy with natural resources and significant oil deposits that need to be explored and exploited. He continued by saying that the rights of foreign investors are equal to domestic, calling foreigners to come and invest here.

Chairman of BiH Council of Ministers Denis Zvizdic emphasized that in 2017 the direct foreign investments increased 58.0 percent year-to-year, noting that EU member states are BiH's main trading partners.

"BiH expects to get a candidacy status which will significantly improve the relationship with the EU," Zvizdic said, adding that the trade will be further accelerated with a series of agreements that are signed with the EU.

Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, head of the EU delegation to BiH, stressed that the EU integration process will help BiH move forward and achieve the regional and international trade.

Initially launched in 2010, the SBF is connecting institutional and private investors and businessmen from all over the world and is one of the most important investment conferences in Southeast Europe.
