GAZA, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Israeli army tanks on Wednesday afternoon fired at military facilities in northern and southern Gaza Strip and no injuries have been reported, medical and security sources said.

The sources said that Israeli artillery has fired tanks shells on eastern Jabalia in northern Gaza Strip and eastern Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip, radio stations in Gaza city reported.

The two artillery attacks targeted two military facilities that belong to Gaza militant group, Islamic Hamas movement. The two posts in northern and southern Gaza Strip are close to the border with Israel.

Israeli media has earlier reported that unknown militants from the Gaza Strip fired heavy gunfire from the Gaza Strip on the southern Israeli town of Sderout, where the heavy gunshots had caused light damage to a building in the town.

The Israeli tank fire on the Gaza Strip came one day after the end of what the Palestinians called as "the Great March of Return" which started in March 30 and ended in May 15.

Gaza Health Ministry said that from March 30 to May 15, the Israeli army shot dead 111 Palestinians and wounded more than 10,000 others; around half of them were shot with live ammunitions, the rest had suffered tear gas suffocation.

However, Sallah al-Bardaweel, member of Hamas politburo told Baladna, a local independent TV social media station based in Gaza, that 50 of the 62 killed on May 14 and May 15 are from Hamas and the 12 others are ordinary people.
