ANKARA, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Turkey and the United States have reached a preliminary agreement on some issues during talks which aim to solve the crisis over the arrest of Pastor Andrew Brunson that leads to U.S. sanctions on Turkey, local media reported.

The consensus covers "certain subjects" and the two parties agreed on face-to-face talks, Daily Hurriyet quoted anonymous diplomatic sources on Tuesday.

A Turkish delegation is reportedly scheduled to visit Washington D.C. in the coming days to "move the process further."

The U.S. Department of the Treasury slapped two Turkish ministers on the ground that they have "played leading roles in the organizations which were responsible for the arrest and detention of Pastor Andrew Brunson."

Brunson, a 50-year-old Christian pastor, was detained two years ago in Turkey on spying charges, and faces up to 35 years in prison if found guilty.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and his U.S. counterpart Mike Pompeo last week announced continuation of dialogue to solve the diplomatic crisis.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday vowed to retaliate by imposing sanctions against two U.S. ministers, but Ankara has not taken action yet.聽
