LONDON, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- British Prime Minister Theresa May told media on Thursday that her Brexit deal delivers the results of the 2016 referendum.

She told BBC's radio program that she was talking to her colleagues about their concerns over the Northern Irish backstop, on which experts say the Dec. 11 parliament vote on the Brexit deal would hinge.

The prime minister, who has been struggling for enough votes amid rebellions and opposition, insisted that no deal with the European Union was possible without a backstop.

Her interview came as the third of a five-day debate began. May did not confirm reports that she would delay the Dec. 11 vote to ensure victory.

She conceded that her country could not unilaterally withdraw from the backstop, a means to prevent the return of a physical border in Northern Ireland, which was published in the full Brexit legal advice one day ago.

May said the backstop was "an integral part of the withdrawal agreement."
