ISTANBUL, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday discussed the Syrian issue and the crisis in Libya with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in a joint phone call, local media reported.

According to the state-run Anadolu Agency, Erdogan said in the phone call that the "aggression" of the Syrian government and its supporters in Idlib province should be stopped.

On Thursday, two Turkish soldiers were killed and five others were wounded in Idlib as a result of an airstrike, Turkish Defense Ministry announced.

In the past two weeks, 13 Turkish military personnel were killed during Syrian government forces' attacks in Idlib.

Erdogan also urged Macron and Merkel for more cooperation to establish peace, prosperity, and stability in Libya, according to the report.

The Turkish leader received Fayez al-Serraj, head of the Government of National Accord (GNA), at the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul on Thursday.

The North African country has been torn by a raging civil war, between the GNA based in the capital Tripoli and the Libyan National Army with its allies based in the eastern part of the country.
