Malaysia reports 1,247 new COVID-19 cases, 3 new deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 1,247 new COVID-19 infections, the health ministry said on Friday, bringing the national total to 101,565.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that two of the new cases are imported and 1,245 are local transmissions.

Three new deaths have been reported, pushing the death toll to 449.

Another 1,441 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total cured and discharged to 82,540, or 81.3 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 18,576 active cases, 108 are being held in intensive care units and 47 of those are in need of assisted breathing.
