HONG KONG, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Asia-Pacific countries kept reporting more COVID-19 cases, as the Philippines recorded 766 new cases, the lowest in more than five months.

The Philippines' case tally rose to 470,650, and the death toll climbed to 9,124 after 15 more patients died, the Department of Health said in a statement.

India's total tally rose to 10,207,871, as 20,021 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, the latest data from the federal health ministry showed. The death toll mounted to 147,901 with 279 more deaths.

There are still 277,301 active cases in the country, while 9,782,669 people have been discharged from hospitals after medical treatment.

The confirmed cases in Indonesia rose by 5,854 within one day to 719,219, with the death toll adding by 215 to 21,452, the Health Ministry said on Monday.

According to the ministry, 6,302 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 589,978.

South Korea reported 808 more cases as of midnight Monday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 57,680.

Eleven more deaths were confirmed, leaving the death toll at 819. The total fatality rate stood at 1.42 percent.

Sri Lanka's total patient count reached 41,054, out of which 32,701 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, bringing down the active patient count to 8,162.

A total of 191 deaths have been recorded.

Thailand confirmed 144 new cases, mostly local infections, official data showed.

Of the new cases, 115 were local infections, 14 were Myanmar migrant workers and 15 were under quarantine upon arrival from abroad, according to the Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration. The country's total cases rose to 6,285. Enditem
