A store owner in Pudong was killed by an alleged thief outside a store on Tuesday and two suspects were arrested, police said yesterday.

The two were said to have stolen a mobile phone at a Jingao Road store in Jinqiao Town, and ran off when the store owner, a 50-year-old man surnamed Wang, discovered the theft.

As Wang chased after them, one of them stabbed him with a dagger, police said. Wang was rushed to hospital, where he died due to loss of blood.

Police declined to reveal the identities of the suspects.
