LONDON, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- The FTSE 100 Index, Britain'sbenchmark stock market gauge, rose by 0.38 percent, or 27.72points, to 7,237.77 points on Monday.
The share price of British American Tobacco increased by 2.21percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. Imperial Brands,Sage Group, BHP Billiton and Smurfit Kappa Group increased by 2.20percent, 2.05 percent, 1.78 percent and 1.76 percentrespectively.
Capita led the top losers of the blue chips with a share pricedrop of 2.91 percent, followed by Land Securities Group (2.18percent), Royal Bank of Scotland Group (2.15 percent), Whitbread(1.93 percent) and British Land (1.65 percent). Enditem
