Cao Wenxuan, a winner of the Hans Christian Andersen Award, will soon take his Bronze and Sunflower to a stage.

Cao recently authorized the Jiangsu Cultural Art Promotion Association of Juveniles to adapt his novel Bronze and Sunflower into a children musical.

The novel tells a moving story, showing the hardships and resilience of two children during a difficult period in Chinese history. The story will be brought to the stage in hopes of motivating a young audience when facing difficulties and adversities in life.

"The authoring team will be lead by director Hu Yifei and other outstanding artists," said Zhang Feng, vice chairman of the Jiangsu Cultural Art Promotion Association of Juveniles.

Cao is the first Chinese winner of the Hans Christian Andersen Award. His novels have been translated into English, French, Japanese, and Korean.
