China's State Nuclear Power Technology Corp (SNPTC) had completed the initial design for the country's first three inland nuclear power stations, the China Daily reported Tuesday.
Responsible for the development of third-generation nuclear power technology in China, SNPTC said it has finished its preliminary safety analysis report on the Taohuajiang plant, one of the three projects.
The three projects, namely Taohuajiang in Hunan province, Xianning in Hubei province and Pengze in Jiangxi province, will use AP1000, a third-generation technology developed by U.S.-based Westinghouse. Future inland nuclear projects in China would also use the technology, said the newspaper.
Preparatory work for China's first batch of inland nuclear power projects is said to be going smoothly, according to the newspaper.
