On Aug.18-19, a group of 61 representatives of Expo 2010 participants from 36 countries、regions and international organizations visited Yancheng, a coastal center city of Jiangsu Province. This activity was warmly hosted by the Yancheng local government.

The guests visited China Sea Salt Museum, Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, and Yongfenglin Agricultural Ecological Garden. They enjoyed folk culture performance and tasted Chinese tea in the old-style Water Street , and had a memorable sightseeing of the ecological landscape of coastal wetland in Dafeng Milu national Nature Reserve. What impressed the guests most is all the guest planted“Friendship Trees’with every guest’s name on the tree in the city central Park named Yandu Park.
The Local government hosted a wonderful banquet in the Guest House after a City Presentation Meeting on the afternoon of Aug.18.During that meeting Yancheng Mayor Li Qiang gave a speech on Yancheng in terms of its history, geography, natural resources, agriculture, industry , economic and investment environment, its economic relationships with Shanghai, etc. Mayor Li Qiang also expressed good wishes for the“Friendship Day”Activity of Shanghai World Expo and extended his sincerely greets to the guests.

Yancheng is the largest city in land coverage and second largest in population among cities in Jiangsu Province. It has earned many titles in recent years, such as China’s Excellent Tourism City, National Excellent City on Prospering City Through Science and Education and Civilized City in Jiangsu Province.
It is a city with unique ecology and abundant resources. It has the biggest coastal wetland with notable diverse ecological features in the west coast of Pacific Ocean and the continental rim of Asia. With two National Reserves for rare birds and Mi-lu dear, Yancheng is crowned with“Capital of Wetland”and“Homeland of red-crowned crane and Mi-lu Dear”. Experts from the world tourism organization claim that the spot here is genuine spot with ecological tourism potential.
The industrial development of Yancheng is in fast transition and promotion. Auto, textile, machinery and chemical are the four traditional backbone industries of Yancheng. It has the largest production base for passenger car in Jiangsu. Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motors Co., Ltd, jointly invested by China and Korea, now have the capacity to produce 300 thousand complete vehicles and 250 thousand motors. The coast has the potential to generate electricity 14.7 million KW through wind power.
The City has made great efforts to promote the development of the new energy and eco-friendly industry. Now the whole city has over 300 eco-friendly companies. The market share of energy saving and emission reduction products which feature to deal with the smoke and gas is up to 30%.
Yancheng is a big traditional city for agriculture in Jiangsu Province. It is the chief production base for agricultural byproducts in Yangtze Delta. Regarded as Shanghai’s vegetable basket, Yancheng provides 10% agricultural produce for the consumption of Shanghai citizens.
Yancheng has a good environment for investment and a broad developing prospect. Convenience and modern three-dimensional transportation network has formed with the combination of expressway, railway, seaway, canal, and airway. Nanyang International Airport in Yancheng has airlines to main international and national airports, such as Seoul, Hongkong, Beijing and Guangzhou. The Dafeng Seaport has the international sea lines to Korea and Japan. Till now, Yancheng has established trade relationship with more than 140 nations and areas, bringing in over US $ 1 billion.
It was the first time in history for Yancheng to receive friends from so many different countries in one delegation group. It could be regarded as the magic from Shanghai World Expo that maked it happen.
