The Prague day at the World Expo 2010 will be held on Monday, 6 September 2010, at the Urban Best Practices Area, Zone E. On this special day various spectacular performances, presentations and activities will be held throughout the whole day introducing Prague as a historical, architectural and cultural centre of Europe protecting itself against natural disasters, namely floods.

The City of Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, is one of the selected cities participating at the Urban Best Practices Area due to its central theme focusing on safety - the flood protection systems. In the second half of the summer 2002, the Czech Republic was hit with one of its worst ever catastrophes - floods causing immense damage to historical monuments, infrastructure and private property in many places including the city of Prague. Therefore, the motto of Prague's presence at the EXPO is "a modern city protecting its cultural heritage". The aim is to introduce a modern city protecting not only its unique world-famous heritage but also people and their lives in the city.

Indeed, Prague is also a cultural metropolis. On the Prague day, visitors will have the chance to get a taste of Prague's culture including the well-known baritone soloist of the Czech National Theatre opera soloist Vratislav Kriz; a fabulous fashion show by a famous Prague fashion designer, Eva Brzakova, inspired by the idea of a "Better City, Better Life" for the new"e:be" bcollection revealing the living gallery on the street; a unique marionette version of Don Giovanni by W.A. Mozart brought by the National Marionette Theatre; a jazz band "Autumn tunes"; a rock performance by Zina Punx and others.

If you are interested in learning more about ways a modern city is protecting its heritage and human lives as well as experience unique Prague/ Bohemian culture, you are warmly welcome to the Prague day at the Prague Pavilion-UBPA, Zone E.
