Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono planned to take legal action over the mentioning of his name in the taped phone conversation allegedly aimed at hindering the operation of Indonesia's anticorruption agency, presidential spokesman Dino Pati Djalal said here in Tuesday.

Dino said that the mentioning of President Susilo by a person involved in the conversation was a form of defamation to the head of the state and the government.

"There will be legal measurement. Defamation against the president is a serious case," Dino said in the presidential palace.

Shortly after the phone conversation transcript was published in the media, the police arrested Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputies on Friday with an allegation of misusing their power.

According to the presidential spokesman, President Susilo has a high commitment to dismantle the KPK deputies arrest case that has incited restlessness among the public.

He added that the president welcomed the plan to publicly play the recording in the Constitution Commission office scheduled on Tuesday.

"The president wanted a thorough investigation into the case so as to find the one who dare to use his name for his unruly intention," Dino said.

In the taped phone conversation whose transcript was published by the media, a woman, who related to the alleged bribery case to the two KPK deputies, said that President Susilo supported the arrest over the two KPK deputies as he doesn't like the existence of KPK.

President Susilo, through a press conference late last week, has denied either his involvement in the bribery case or his support over the arrest of the two KPK deputies as suggested in the taped phone conversation.
