The Zanda soil forest landscape, the former lake sediment in the ancient times, was formed during the Himalayan orogeny. The most typical Zanda soil forest landscape lies around Toling Town, at an altitude from 3,750 to 4,450 meters with an area of 888 square kilometers. It is believed as the world's largest of its kind formed in the weathering of tertiary strata. The Zanda soil forest landscape was listed as a national geopark in August 2007.
