Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung decided to earmark 225 billion Vietnamese dong (about 12.6 million U.S. dollars) to the country's central provinces hit by the typhoon Mirinae, said a report of the Vietnamese government's website on Thursday.

The money, sourced from the state budget, will be allocated to five worst-hit central and central highland provinces of Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai and Ninh Thuan, said the report.

The prime minister decided to provide 10,000 tons of rice from the National Food Reserve to these five provinces.

Dung also asked provincial authorities to mobilize other financial sources including provincial budgets to support typhoon victims, rescue work and coping with aftermath of the typhoon.

The typhoon Mirinae, the eleventh so far this year that hit Vietnam, has claimed at least 99 lives. Property loss was at least 76 billion Vietnamese dong (about 4.3 million U.S. dollars), according to initial accounts of the National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control.
