It is reported by the National Holiday Press Center that the entire preparing process of this ceremony follows the general principle of“grand, jubilant, provident, and harmonious”. Ji Lin, the First Deputy Mayor of Beijing city, introduced the contents about“provident”in the press conference, which has refreshed our mind. He said first of all the amount of people attending this ceremony has been greatly cut down. There were altogether 240,000 people in the parade and the man-formed background characters for the 50th anniversary, while it is 180,000 this time. Second, the scale of the floats has also been greatly compressed. Compared with 90 in the50th anniversary, there are altogether 60 floats this time. Third, the time for rehearsal has also been condensed. The rehearsal has gone for four times on 29th August, 7th September, 13th September, and 18th September respectively. According to the original plan, there should be another rehearsal after the one on 18th September. However, according to the practical situation, especially the principle of providence and reducing the influence to civilians’work and life as much as possible, rehearsal activities after 18th September were canceled.
Ji Lin said the government of Beijing has controlled the expenses of various areas for the National Holiday Ceremony, and has put forward fairly strict requirements. For example, the chassis of 60 floats haven’t been rebuilt in order that they can be used in other fields after the ceremony. The four big screens in the square and other equipments are also rented, which will cut quite amount of expenses. Funds applied by different departments and the usage of the funds are assessed strictly beforehand and audited and supervised strictly afterwards.
These years, we have seen many big or small local“ceremonies”from provinces, cities, districts and counties to certain department. Even tiny companies, using some little thing as their excuses, clamor for“ceremony”like so called“in memory of”to be extravagant and waste money. What is more, this kind of thing has once been popular for a while. As what proverbs have satirized,“spend unclear money; find filthy people, speak some superficial words; and hold some inexplicable festivals”(some others call“hold unnecessary meetings”), which hit the nail on the head and up to the point.
Though the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China is a national ceremony, it is so provident. As for those various local so-called“ceremonies”，local cadres should come to their senses. We should know that though our country has become strong and powerful and some places have become wealthy after struggling for 60 years, we are still a developing country viewing from the world and we still have many difficulties and shortcomings viewing from inside our country. Both the international and domestic situation has told us that even if our country becomes stronger and wealthier in the future, we have no reasons to spend money blindly and we still need to struggle hard amid difficulties and ruling the country providently. The recently-held the Forth Plenary Session of the 14th Central Committee has mentioned it for many times in the communiquthat the whole party should continue to carry forward the sprit of seeking truth, be practical and struggling hard amid difficulties and it is of realistic, deep and distant meaning to spread the tide of seeking truth, be practical and struggling hard amid difficulties.
Holding the National Holiday Ceremony Providently deserves the praise.
