A senior official from Osaka, Japan, yesterday promised intensified Expo promotions in the country during a meeting with Hu Jinjun, deputy director general of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination.
Toshifumi Tagaya, president of the City Council of Osaka, said city officials would step up efforts to attract more Japanese visitors to Expo 2010.
He made the promise while visiting the Expo Bureau in Pudong New Area.
Tagaya said Osaka would try its best in preparing its Urban Best Practices Area display, which will introduce the city's water transport solutions and efforts to prevent water disasters. The theme is "Advanced Environment City – The Challenge of the Water Metropolis."
The showcase will also involve innovative and sophisticated technologies designed to achieve a better life and environment.
Hu said the Expo 2010 organizer would learn from Japan's experience as the country has hosted several expositions, including Expo 2005 Aichi and Expo 1970 Osaka.
He welcomed suggestions from Japan and said the Osaka UBPA case would likely be splendid.
