The opening ceremony as well as the promotion conference of a project named "Eastern Digital Culture and Entertainment" was held in the comprehensive business building of Eastday on Sep.18, 2009.

In the ceremony, a series of agreements has been signed by eastday.com and IDM company, including the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement of Eastern Digital Culture Center, the Cooperative Agreement of the Settling down of CPL Gaming events in Chinese Zone and the Cooperative Agreement about Building the First Eastern Digital Entertainment Center in Pudong area with Pudong Culture and Media Co., Ltd. What is more, the entire signing process was approached with electronic signing.

The project of "Eastern Digital Culture and Entertainment" is a digital cultural industry jointly forged by Eastday and the IDM, an international professional organization from Singapore who has been applying themselves to industries like digital entertainment, inter-active media and electronics. The project contains altogether four platforms naming venue, gaming events, network and video and it is developed by taking advantage of the plan of revitalization of cultural industry, and using the construction of digital entertainment venue as its carrier and Internet and new media as its supporter. It can create a new working mode by integrating sources like relevant digits, culture, entertainment and gaming.

The ceremony has been featured with digital and started with an splendid cosplay show. All the characters in the show come from a big game domestically developed and owned. In order to show the operative mode of "Eastern Digital Entertainment" more directly, the organizer gave an live show containing programs such as e-sport tournament, digital entertainment and sports and media press. Through all these live shows, the operative situation of the four platforms of venue, gaming events, network and media has been clearly exhibited to the audience. After the opening ceremony, the live gaming started formally and the honored guests visited the inter-active area and enjoyed themselves.

FIFA football gaming was held in the ceremony.

The ceremony has drawn attentions and supports from various parties. Wang Zhongwei, member of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and minister of Shanghai Publicity Department, Zhang Zhijing, vice minister of the Publicity Department of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, and other leaders from propaganda and culture related departments of downtown areas, districts and counties have attended the ceremony. Besides, game operators from different places, risk investors, and e-sport tournament stars have also attended the ceremony.

Minister Wang Zhangwei visited the digital expo area on the first, second, fourth and sixth floor of Eastday Building. He carefully watched the gaming events and gave the first shooting for the opening ceremony.

Vice minister Zhang Zhijing gave a speech in the ceremony. She said the team of the Eastern Digital Culture and Entertainment had shown us a representative project and product with modern digital idea and it was a quite funny experience. She wished that the Eastern Digital Culture and Entertainment Project can be developed as a special project of Shanghai Cultural industry and became another culture-exchanging platform oriented to the world.

Now, e-sport industry has become a newly emerging power of the cultural industry. It is promoting the development of relevant industries like soft ware development, hardware design, content promotion, network platform and venue construction through industry creation.

The starting of the "Eastern Digital Culture and Entertainment" project will help forge the core-competitiveness of Eastday and another creative industry integrating network, culture, entertainment and gaming.
