Shanghai, Jan.5,2012-- As from today, thousands of Walmart's New Year gift packages will be sent to old people who have lost their spouses, the disabled and other people who need help as a part of Walmart's program "Warm Community" which will cover 133 Walmart supermarkets in Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Dalian and Xiamen. This program is joined by "@Warm Community", an online charity program officially co-launched by Walmart China and Sina Microblog today which aims to find 365 moving and respected figures in communities.

Directors from Walmart Shanghai presented gifts package to old people in Tangqiao Community of Shanghai city.
During "@Warm Community" which lasts from January 5th to 20th, bloggers will be asked to select 365 people whose stories are true, moving and closely-watched, to whom Walmart will eventually send gift packages.
"To be a good neighbor has always been the core value of Walmart as a responsible enterprise", said Li Ling, a senior manager in Walmart China. "As the New Year draws near, Walmart keeps in mind those who need care and our staff volunteers will send our best wishes and care to them. Meanwhile, we are searching through microblog for ordinary heroes with a warm heart whose words and actions command our respect. We'd love to send gifts to these nice people to call for more social care, benevolence and perseverance, and to communicate sincerity, care and love."
At the launching ceremony of "Warm Community", Walmart's staff volunteers, along with some warm-hearted people from the community, made exquisite gift cards with best wishes written on them, wrote Chinese calligraphy, baked delicious cakes and made New Year couplets. After the ceremony, volunteers and representatives from the community boards took those packages, which contained rice, cooking oil, quilt, etc., to people who need help. Also, the volunteers helped these families put on the couplets and clean their rooms in a happy festival.
Mrs. Li, who lives in Tangqiao, Pudong, was very excited to see those New Year gifts, and said: "This year is different from any past year because of the gifts, which are much-needed and make me feel warm. Thank you, Walmart!"
