  Footprints of 7,000 years ago being discovered in the Three Gorges

  A conclusion that "Human beings lived in the Three Gorges reservoir area at least 7,000 years ago" was drawn by Professor Yu Xiyun, Wuhan University. The prints are 2,000 years earlier than the 5,000 years old Da Xi Culture which was discovered in the Qutang Gorge.

  According to Professor Yu, the ancient mankind relics discovered in Nanmu Park, Badong County has been well kept and covers an area of 100,000 m2. It is a seldom piece of large ancient remains of Grade A in the Three Gorges area. The unearthed objects are mainly stone implements, porcelains and pottery. It has raised great attention of archaeologist at home and abroad.

  Over 100 pieces of precious historical relics discovered in the Three Gorges reservoir area

  More than 100 pieces of precious historical relics were discovered in the ancient tombs of Bu Zhuang River, Zigui County. It is estimated that these historical relics cover a period of more than 2,000 years dating from the Warring State Period to the Ming Dynasty.

  The excavating work took place since February last year. It revealed many relics such as copper helmets, iron swords, porcelain pots, pottery pots, glass ornaments and coins from the Warring States Period, Han Dynasty and the Tang, Song, Ming dynasties.

  Four ancient city relics discovered in the Three Gorges reservoir area

  It is confirmed by nearly 20 archaeologists from Chongqing Cultural Relic Institute that there are 4 ancient city relics in Fengjie County after a four-year archaeological excavation of the City of the White Emperor in Fengjie County.

  It is estimated that the four ancient cities were established during 33 A.D. to 36 A.D. They are the City of White Emperor of the Han Dynasty, Liujin City of the Three Kingdoms' Period, Kuizhou City of the Tang Dynasty and Yuanshan City of the Song Dynasty. The last one is the largest ancient city relic being discovered in the Three Gorge area with the highest degree that is kept best.

  The significant discovery in Fengjie County provides detailed historical documents for further researches of the formation and development of the Three Kingdoms of the Han Dynasty and the South-and-North Dynasty in the Yangtze River Valley and that of the Tang and Song Culture.
