Based on its understanding of the local history, culture, humanities and geographical environment, Shui On Land has actively cooperated with the government’s urban development planning by making the overall project planning with innovative and flexible methods, striving to create a unique environment featuring the integration of life, work and leisure and a whole community featuring sustainable development. At present, the company has a land reserve of 11.5 million square meters.

The company’s project in Shanghai has not only become its new landmark and cultural card, but also has made its citizens and the tourists feel the changes that openness and inclusiveness have brought to the city.

In 1996, Shanghai made great efforts to transform from anindustry-oriented economy to a service-oriented economy. Shui On made a whole planning on the Taipingqiao area of Huangpu District by effectively integrating the existing urban space with the functional structure. The historical Shikumenwas retained and endowed with new commercial value and vitality through the modern design concept and construction facilities. The old central area took on a new appearance among the modern buildings. After more than 20 years of efforts, the Taipingqiao project has become a multi-functional complex featuring reconstruction of historical buildings, Grade-A office buildings, residential areas, and the central artificial lake and greeneries, acting as an important engine to propel regional development.

The Knowledge and Innovation Community, located in Yangpu District, is the result of a revolutionary transformation from an old northeast corner of the city, which suffered from the aging industrial structure and heavy social burden, into a knowledge-based community. Leveraging on the resources of first-class universities in the district, Shui On has injected into the district the entrepreneurship of the Silicon Valley and the creative culture on the La Rive Gauche,Paris.

Shui On’s new project in the Shanghai Hongqiao Central Business District aims to provide one-stop services such as business, shopping, dining, leisure and entertainment forthe people working in the area and the 75 million people living in Shanghai’s“One-hour Economic Circle.”Relying on the comprehensive transportation hub in Hongqiao, Shui On has helped the business district to become a new gateway forShanghai to connect with the Yangtze River Delta and the world.
