HONEYWELL Forty years from ‘don’t have’ to ‘no problem’

2018-10-17 13:55:30

As the world’s leading high-tech enterprise, Honeywell will bring connected technology solutions to the first China International Import Expo. The company is committed to addressing the challenges in aviation, building, supply chain and other areas through cloud computing, data analysis and IIoT.

The development of Honeywell in China can be traced back to US president Nixon’s visit to China in 1972. At the invitation of the Chinese government, the president recommended elite enterprises in 10 fields to promote China’s modernization drive. Honeywell UOP was the only company to be selected in oil refining and petrochemical. Honeywell has been developing rapidly in China. In January this year, Honeywell’s new catalyst production line in Zhangjiagang was formally put into operation to meet the growing demand for plastic products in the Chinese market.

Shane Tedjarati, president of the company’s Global High Growth Regions, has been working and living in China for 25 years and is a witness to China’s reform and opening-up. He said,“I remember when I first came to China, the first phrase I learned quickly was ‘don’t have.’ Because when you go to a shop somewhere, and you want to buy something, people always say ‘don’t have.’ But after a few years, people began saying ‘no problem’ instead of ‘don’t have.’ No matter what you want, we can do it. So this transition from ‘don’t have’ to ‘no problem’ in just a dozen years is really remarkable.”

The global strategy of “East for East(E4E)” and “East to Rest(E2R)” proposed by Tedjarati has been widely accepted and fully implemented within the company.
