CARGILL Provide Chinese people with safe food

As a global agricultural leader, Cargill is committed to exploring the processing of agricultural products and making efforts to increase the income of Chinese farmers, promote sustainable development in agriculture, and provide safe food.

As early as 1969, Cargill proposed the vision of entering the Chinese market. In 1972, President Nixon signed the China-US Joint Communiqué, opening the door to Sino-US trade. Cargill’s business in China started since 1973, when it took part in the China Canton Fair.

In 1992, Cargill began introducing global food safety standards into its production system in China. In this phase, Cargill’s nearly 20 business sectors in China have been following the highest standards and business ethics in the area and sharing advanced ideas and innovative solutions with customers. In the same year, Cargill initiated the farmer training programs, which haveprovided free training in animal breeding, preventive disease control and modern farm management to 3.53 millionfarmers in China by 2017.

In 2013, Cargill’s strategic project on the fully integratedanimal proteinsupply chainwas launched in Chuzhou, Anhui Province, helping to guarantee food safety from the source to the terminal, and making it possible to trace from farm to table.

Cargill’s businessesin China now include grain and oil seed supplychain, animal nutrition, animal protein, starchesand sweeteners, edible oilssolutions, and structuredfinance.

In addition, it invests 2percentof its pre-tax profits annually in various corporate responsibility projects to ensure convenient supply of safe and nutritious agricultural products and food, promote educational innovationandprotect natural resources and community development.
