Zhang Longxi points out in the 4th issue of South China Quarterly for 2020 that the concept of "world literature" is closely related to literary translation from the very beginning. Since the middle and late 20th century, world literature has developed rapidly. On the one hand, it has surpassed Eurocentrism, on the other hand, it has paid more attention to translation, which provides an excellent opportunity to translate the classic works of non Western literature and European minority literature into a part of world literature. At present, some western scholars highlight the so-called "Foreignization" in translation studies, and even emphasize the impossibility of translation, which actually prevents non Western literature from becoming world literature. They don't see that literary translation, especially high-quality literary translation, not only enables most readers in the world to contact and understand the classic works in the literary traditions of other nations, but also makes great contributions to the study of world literature.
