In the third issue of Journal of Renmin University of China in 2021, Zhang Guangsheng pointed out that in order to evaluate the status and value of Confucius and his Confucian culture and education in the history of civilization, we resort to the comparative vision opened by the historical philosophy concept of "breakthrough in the axial age". Compared with the Hebrew spirit marked by revelation religion, the Confucian movement is rather a kind of natural religion. Compared with the virtue religion of Socrates, which also emphasizes natural rationality, Confucius puts benevolence and morality above wisdom and morality, highlighting the transcendental spirit of the original Confucianism to understand human relations. The breakthrough of benevolence as ceremony and Confucius' critical inheritance of the ancient holy King's political and religious tradition have opened up a new tradition of "political and religious dimension" of Chinese civilization and characterized the characteristics of China's "breakthrough in the axis era".
