Yu Minjiang and Wang Lei wrote in the first issue 2022 of Journal of Humanities that the prominence of environmental problems in the West and the active construction of academic discourse of environmental politics in China have greatly promoted the "mosaic and coupling" of environment and politics, and activated the study of environmental politics. However, due to the "anomie" of the western existing explanation mechanism, it is urgent to transcend the western paradigm of environmental democracy and ecological imperialism and expand the growth space for the "native" theory of environmental politics in China. Based on the overall goal of satisfying people's needs for a better life, it is necessary to draw on changes in environmental citizenship, environmental governance modernization and environmental politics discourse in a bid to seek China’s knowledge growth in environmental politics. However, there is still a long way to go for the development of environmental politics in China, both theoretically and practically.
