Shi Yupeng, Wang Yang and Zhang Wentao indicate in the Economist's 12th issue of 2021 that the digital transformation of Chinese enterprises is still in its infancy. Among those implementing digital transformation, industrial and service enterprises are in the majority while agricultural enterprises in the minority. The enterprises in central, western and northeast regions obviously lag behind those in eastern regions. Weak talent pool and industrial base are the main factors restricting their transformation. Enterprises are satisfied with policies such as digital application of epidemic prevention and control and digitalization of government regulation, while they have higher expectations upon local policies for digital transformation and standardization for data coordination between upstream and downstream enterprises. To promote the digital transformation of enterprises, the government shall take precise measures for enterprises in different regions and industries, guide enterprises to enhance their awareness of transformation, and strengthen data governance and the construction of regulatory systems.
