Deng Xize wrote in the Journal of Sichuan University (Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition) in the first issue of 2022 that mankind had experienced two great changes: the first is in the axial period, the second is about the modern transformation, and the third is still in the early stage. In the third change, machines can produce knowledge indirectly at the level of knowledge production; repeating work is replaced largely at the level of labor form; commodity economy is likely to be broken at the level of economic form; technological power may become an independent participant at the level of political form; individuals may become slaves of technology at the level of life form. The third change is changing the basic contradiction of human civilization: from the contradiction between man and nature and between man and man to the contradiction between man and technology, which means humans may not be able to control technology that is developing rapidly, ultimately leading to a dilemma of human civilization. The third change is the greatest one in human history, with many risks and uncertainties that modern civilization has not been prepared for.
