Yao Shangjian wrote in an article of Gansu Social Sciences, No. 3, 2022, that urban livelihood does not equal city life. The former serves as an instrument, while the latter relates to rights. Urbanization is a process of evolving from "livelihood" to "life". This process leads to the expansion and "invasion" of the urban circle, and also results in regional decay of cities. Aimed at a systematic solution to these issues, urban renewal takes the form of action logic of renewing urban areas, blocks and communities successively. In the face of sustainable rights, urban renewal regards the city as a collection of individuals who have rights, as a synthesis of rights of production, residence and development. The sustainability of policies for urban renewal is supported by the sustainability of rights. To achieve urban renewal, we need to focus on stage differences and regional differences of urban development in different areas and make necessary adjustments to policies. Both rural urbanization and city livability call for common and sustainable urban rights, namely more equal, more convenient and better quality of city life.
