Protection of Labor Rights and Interests of Digital Gig Jobs

From:社科报2022-7-7 18:28

Flexible employment is a new pattern of obtaining employment in the context of digital economy, Yan Huihui and Yang Xiaoyong wrote in the fifth issue of the Economist in 2022. The labor relation between platform enterprises and digital gig employees is particular, which can be seen from the fact that capital intensifies the extraction of surplus value from digital gig jobs in the aspects of production, distribution, labor intensity and labor time. This has resulted in problems in relation to protection of digital gig employees’ rights and interests, such as insufficient job security, unfair income distribution, the "Taylor system" management and impeded career promotion. On the occasion of building a great modern socialist country in all aspects, we should clarify the legal status of digital gig jobs, put in place relevant job security policies, reinforce the anti-monopoly regulation of platform enterprises’ disorderly expansion and break the ceiling of career development of digital gig employees, so as to establish harmonious labor relations, carry out the philosophy of shared development and advance common prosperity for the new era.
