Under the joint influence of national policies and rural society,"life governance" is becoming a policy focus and academic hotspot of rural governance in the new era, Tian Meng wrote in theJournal of Shenzhen University (Humanities & Social Sciences, Issue 4, 2022). Rural life governance is an important tradition and method of rural governance in China. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, our rural governance has experienced the era of "people's commune", the era of "township government and villagers’ self-governance" and the era of "the model which combines self-governance, rule of law, and rule of virtue". In the governance of rural life, governing participants, governance objects and governance goals vary in different eras, with different governance characteristics and results. Under the background of rapid expansion of administrative power and poor development of social forces, it is necessary to remain vigilant on the tendency of "excessive administration" in rural life governance and prevent the "alienation" of life governance. It is also necessary to improve villagers' self-governance, give play to the important role of democracy in promoting people's livelihood and boost the efficiency of life governance.
