Interpretation of Central Official School of the Ming Dynasty from an Ecosystem Perspective

From:社科报2022-7-22 11:14

In the discussions by academic circles on the central official school of the Ming Dynasty in terms of the definition, framework, connotation and evaluation, people rarely regard it as an organic whole, nor do they get rid of their outdated opinions of deeming it as a model of the "feudal system", Ren Ping and Wu Guanghui wrote in the third issue of Southeast Academic Researchin 2022.But if we reevaluate it from the ecosystem perspective, we will grasp the connotation of the central official school of the Ming Dynasty ----- with the aim of establishing the emperor-centered centralism, it integrated the educational philosophy, educational thoughts, educational institutions and educational practice with imperial examinations, talent selection, specialized education and imperial clan education, from inside to outside, from top down, from the central government to local governments and from concepts to practice. It is of value owing to the fact that this official school system and folk academies worked together and complemented each other to jointly promote the development of educational ideology and culture in the Ming Dynasty.
