The Western Tradition of Marx’s Community Thought

Shen Jiangping and Ding Yaopeng pointed out in Social Sciences in Nanjing(Issue 2, 2023) that the long line of community thought and its discourse logic with unique ideological tradition in the history of Western thought had developed the historical ground for the birth of Marx's community thought.Tracing to the source, we can see that the community thought has its internal structure of operation, and itslogic thread does not break away from the relationship between individualsand the whole; the concept of "community" and the concept of "state" tend to be separated from each other; in the development of community thought, more emphasis is placed onthe prediction of future society. After Marx, the distinction between "community" and "state" was further mentioned and deepened; western scholars are also exploring the theoretical paradigm of transformation to the "world of Great Harmony"; a community with a shared future for mankind is proposed at the appropriate time, making possible the community under two different systems – this is a manifestation of the Chinese wisdom about human beings coming to the real community.
