On May 20, the Painting with Threads---Kesi and Embroidery during Ming and Qing Dynasties Exhibition opened at Shanghai Museum. This exhibition is another silk embroidery-themed exhibition after the Fancy Art of Shanghai Selected Works of Gu’s Embroidery Exhibition held in 2007. The exhibition will display 27 pieces (sets) of Chinese tapestry embroidery of Ming and Qing Dynasties, supplemented by 8 pieces (groups) of calligraphy and painting. The exhibition lasts for two months.

The exhibition is divided into two parts: "Ming and Qing Dynasty Kesi calligraphy and painting" and "Ming and Qing Dynasty embroidery calligraphy and painting". Except for some Gu embroidery collections, they are all on display for the first time. Kesi and embroidery are unique landscapes in the history of Chinese art, which take the path of calligraphy and painting, and integrate into ink painting. In Ming Dynasty, Kesi painting presents a simple and lovely style with exquisite craftsmanship. After the design of Kesi painting is added, people can't put it down. In the Qing Dynasty, the style of Kesi gradually changed, with more exquisite pictures and bright colors, becoming fashionable and popular.
