From December 11 to 12, the third annual conference of the Chinese Universities Foreign Language Discipline Development Alliance and the First-class Foreign Language and Literature Discipline Building and Development Summit Forum were held at Shanghai Foreign Studies University.

The annual meeting of the Alliance coincides with the centennial of the founding of the Chinese communist party and beginning of the 14th five-year plan. How to carry forward the party-building spirit and respond to the needs of the times, promote interdisciplinary integration and serve the national strategy are seen as in urgent need of discussion across the foreign language academic community. At the opening ceremony of the forum, Jiang Feng, secretary of the Party committee of Shanghai Foreign Studies University, pointed out that adhering to the valuable historical experience of the traditional merit of being concerned about the interests of the nation and people represents a new challenge for the foreign language community to deeply understand the responsibility of China's foreign language discipline era with a great historical view. Global discourse ability is the integration of language ability, discipline ability and discourse ability. It calls on national foreign language colleges and foreign language discipline institutions to develop jointly and in a coordinated way on the basis of their own characteristics, build a shared community for foreign language discipline reform and development, and make an overall contribution to the country's building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
