Shanghai Jiao Tong University Gives Aid to Communication of Beijing Olympic Winter Games

The Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, as one of the largest diplomatic events hosted by China at present, provides an important historical opportunity for China to develop its international communication capability. Tong Qingyan, professor from the School of Media & Communication of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, has been tracking a national key research and development program of the Ministry of Science and Technology --"Global Communication Service Platform Research and Application Demonstration for the Olympic Winter Games"(2020YFF0305300). Recently, the project team has completed the delivery of the platform to the Media and Publicity Department of the Olympic Winter Games Organizing Committee.

It is reported that the project team members, coming from ten entities including Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing International Studies University, Communication University of China, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, etc., developed the "5G-based multilingual global communication service platform for the Olympic Winter Games and Chinese culture". The platform will precisely analyze experiences in organizing the Olympic Winter Games and the trend of communication, and will make use of science and technology to tell exciting and extraordinary stories on the Olympic Winter Games, relying on strong capabilities of data collection and analysis, and utilizing the matrix of think-tank experts in language, science & technology, soft science, management and public security.
