On November 20, an academic seminar on the history of women and gender was held at Shanghai Normal University.
The scholars attending the meeting had a discussion on “women and society in a global context”. Du Fangqin, professor of Tianjin Normal University, organized and commented on the changes of feminist thought during the second half of the 20th century with the title of "Multiple Changes and In-depth Expansion of Feminist Thought in the Context of Women's Movement (1950-1999)". Prof. Su Zhiliang of Shanghai Normal University introduced the studies conducted by his team under the title "Historical Representation: A Review of the Studies on Chinese Comfort Women for the Japanese Army". In the end, Yi Zhaoyin, professor from Department of World History, Shanghai Normal University, chief editor of Historical Studies of Women and Gender, concluded that the seminar was a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary academic event, revealing the development and vitality of historical studies of women and gender in China.
