On May 28-29, the 4th Annual Conference of China Urban Development and Industrial Economics --"Innovative City, Dynamic Industries and High-quality Development of China's Economy" was held online. It was hosted by Shanghai Normal University and Shanghai Institute for Global City and organized by School of Finance and Business SHNU and Shanghai Economist Association. The conference aims to strengthen the strategic plan of becoming a scientific and technological powerhouse, improve the innovation capability and vitality of industries, and promote high-quality development of China’s economy.

Zhou Zhenhua, President of Shanghai Institute for Global City and Chairman of Shanghai Economist Association, delivered a keynote report titled "Network Connectivity: Lifelines of a City". According to him, the infrastructure system and the external network connectivity which maintain residents' life and production activities are two major lifelines of a city; compared with traditional urban lifelines, the lifelines established through external network connectivity are more complex and important. After the epidemic is brought under control, repairing and improving the city's network connectivity as soon as possible is very important for Shanghai to restore its vitality.
