On May 21, the salon "How to Tell 'China Story' in Chinese Science Fiction Movies" was held online by the Office of Science Communication and Film & Television Fusion of China Association for Science and Technology and the Institute of Film, Television and Theatre, Peking University. Attendees had in-depth discussions from the perspectives of "imagination, narration, technology and industry".
Professor Chen Xuguang, director of the Institute of Film, Television and Theatre, Peking University, said that the discussions this time covered many key issues in relation to the creation and technological industry development of science fiction films and television in China, and explored many topics with the characteristics of “binary opposition”, such as cities and villages, technology and humanity, industry and aesthetics, subjects and genres, China and the West, big-budget production and low budget, as well as science fiction movie positioning in the broad and narrow sense. It was agreed that, with the strong support of a series of national policies such as "Several Opinions on Promoting the Development of Science Fiction Films", we should seize the critical opportunity and strive to cultivate outstanding creative and production talents in a bid to promote the high-quality prosperity and development of Chinese science fiction films.
