From:chinadaily.com.cn  |  2015-10-29 15:32

The Central Conservatory of Music, one of China's top music schools, will celebrate its 75th anniversary from Nov 1-10.

The celebration will see events, including performances, master classes and forums.

Former students of the conservatory, who are now internationally celebrated musicians, including pianist Lang Lang, violinist Lyu Siqing and soprano Zhang Liping, will join in a performance at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing on Nov 1.

A three-act tragic opera, Lucia di Lammermoor, by Gaetano Donizetti, will be staged at the Beijing Concert Hall on Nov 3. It will feature singers, such as tenor Zhang Jianyi and soprano Zhang Liping. Directed by Italian stage director Mario Corradi, the opera will also feature the China Youth Symphony Orchestra and the chorus of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Mo. Daniel Lipton.

The conservatory was founded in 1950 and moved from Tianjin to Beijing in 1958. It is among the country’s national leading universities, and Wang Cizhao is its current president.

The conservatory also has an affiliated primary school and middle school. They conduct courses for piano, orchestral instruments, traditional Chinese instruments and music theory.
