The 86th General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization is being held in Beijing from Sept. 26 to Sept. 29.

Interpol Executive Director of Police Services Tim Morris said as an important member of Interpol, China actively takes part in Interpol's activities, making great contribution to the organization, especially in the fields of anti-cyber crimes.

Interpol provides its member states with 17 professional data bases. China offers large amounts of information for the data bases of Interpol, and provides professional police technicians to Interpol's headquarters in Lyon and branch in Singapore.

He said that China actively takes part in the Interpol's activities tackling cross-border crimes, which increasingly needs international cooperation. Interpol was involved in more than 150 such activities last year. He hopes China can play a bigger role in promoting international police service cooperation to better address cybercrimes, terrorism and cross-border organized crimes.

Interpol signed a cooperation agreement with the Chinese government in May. It will actively take part in the Belt and Road Initiative. And the participants of the Initiative can make use of Interpol's data base to strengthen border information exchange and examination, to ensure the safety of personnel and cargos.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, Chinese police and Interpol work together on around 3,000 cases a year.
