ADDIS ABABA, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese firm Shenzhen Lemi Technology Development Corporation Limited (SLTDC) on Monday showcased its off-grid solar energy products in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa.

Feng Xie, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SLTDC, said the firm based in China's tech hub city, Shenzhen has brought solar products that can electrify the homes of 75 percent of Ethiopians who don't get regular electricity.

"In our foundation we focus a lot on technical innovation. We design the product; a fundamental principle is high quality and also the safe use."

"Even for the smallest product we introduce here, the product has a life term of a minimum of five years and a three years quality warranty," Feng told Xinhua.

Shenzhen, one of the first Chinese cities to experiment with China's economic opening in the late 1970s, is currently considered the Asian country's "Silicon Valley" housing several renowned Chinese tech firms.

Kedir Adem, General Manager of Ethiopia's Oromia region office at the German government agency, Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), said SLTDC's products can boost the quality and number of solar products in Ethiopia.

"I think they coming into play into the Ethiopian market is an additional opportunity that might motivate other private sectors in realizing their solar products objectives and might compel other firms to share their experiences."

"This will create a very competitive environment and that will initiate other private sectors to play their role," he further said.
