Int'l transport route links Chongqing and Singapore
From:Belt and Road Portal  |  2017-07-03 10:55

In May, a freight train left Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality and arrived in Qingzhou, a port in the Beibu Gulf of South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region after a two-day trip, and the cargos were then shipped to Singapore and other Southeast Asian countries by sea. This marks the completion of the return trip along the Chongqing-Guangxi-Singapore international transport route.

The new seal-rail transport route links Chongqing and Singapore, with a total length of 4,080 kilometers. It is another important international logistics route starting from Chongqing after the Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe freight train services, which were launched in 2011.

The rail line is connected with the Silk Road Economic Belt in the north and with the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road in the south, said Peng Qinghua, Secretary of the CPC Guangxi Committee.

Peng noted, "It is of great importance for Guangxi's participating in the building of the Belt and Road Initiative and deepening cooperation with Singapore."

Guangxi, Chongqing and Singapore signed a trilateral cooperation agreement on April 28 to further cooperation along the rail line, aiming to enhance connectivity by land, by sea and in the air.

Meanwhile, Chongqing Road Transport Corporation and Pingxiang Bonded Zone in Guangxi signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in May, aiming to foster a convenient logistics land route connecting Chongqing with ASEAN countries via Pingxiang.
