The Belt and Road Initiative highlights China's strong sense of global responsibility and is conducive to boosting global economic growth and uniting different countries in response to global security challenges, according to delegates attending an international forum in Beijing.

Tsinghua University hosted the 6th World Peace Forum June 24-25, attracting about 450 distinguished guests from more than 20 countries and regions.

Surakiart Sathirathai, former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, said the current trend of globalization needed bridges to connect various points and this is what the Belt and Road Initiative would be able to do.

Hamid Karzai, Former President of Afghanistan, said his country hoped to actively take part in the Initiative and forge synergies with big countries, including China, to expand peaceful cooperation.

Participants also said increasing the representation and rights to have a say in global governance of emerging markets and developing countries represented the right direction of development.
